Grants Programme Guidelines
Older
Londoners
Aims of the Programme
It is a cause for
celebration that many more Londoners are living longer and enjoying
an active older age. This brings challenges as more of us will also
experience age related conditions and impairment.
We want to contribute to a London where people predominantly
over 75 years old can enjoy active, independent and healthy lives.
Everyone is entitled to lead rich and fulfilling lives, exercising
choice in how they live.
For many people one of the biggest fears about ageing is losing
the capacity to think clearly. We want to support high-quality
services which will provide for older people with special care and
support needs. These will include older people with dementia and
Alzheimer’s.
What will we fund?
- Work with older people (75 years old and above) including
social, cultural, educational, volunteering activities and projects
encouraging healthy lifestyles.
- Work encouraging healthy lifestyles with older people 65 years
old and above.
- Non-medical services supporting older people of any age living
with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Please specify on your application form which of these
themes your project is addressing.
Making a Difference
We want to fund
projects that really make a difference to people’s lives. We would
like to know how our funding has helped achieve positive changes or
“outcomes”. We want you to tell us how your work will contribute to
our overall programme outcomes. You will need to demonstrate that
your project can contribute to one or more of these and that you
have systems in place to collect information on numbers of people
who have benefited, and how you will measure the changes your work
has brought about.
Our Programme Outcomes
We want to fund
projects that will achieve one or more of the following:
- more older people over 75 years living healthier and more
active lives
- more older people actively contributing in their communities
through volunteering
- people with dementia and Alzheimer’s improving the quality of
their lives
- fewer older people with depression and more people reporting
improved well-being.
If your application is successful, we will ask you to report
regularly on your progress in reaching these outcomes although we
recognise that some of these will be long-term. In addition, we
will be interested to hear about other outcomes that you may have
achieved as well as any unexpected issues that have added to your
learning.
Please contact us if you are unclear on what an ‘outcome’ means
in your area of work.
Good Practice
Please show how you:
- involve older people in the management and running of the
service
- welcome people of all backgrounds and value diversity
- value and support volunteers
- are taking steps to reduce your carbon footprint.
